EXTREME

The last major event was the Euro X-Games in Tignes/France. I never know what to think of France. I really like to hang out there in summer but not so much in winter. I'm just not down with all these huge hotels and the unfriendly people. Although it was bad weather for almost all week and my bag didn't show up for my whole stay, it was the last contest for this season so I was anyways in a good mood. Since it's a big TV thing I was expecting a lot! The pipe was really good and the riding was impressing too. The slopestyle course sucked big time! The rail set up looked alright but the jumps were tiny and obviously super lame to ride so none of the riders I'm stoked on made it on the podium. Well, it was a fun first contest season as TM and I'm looking forward to the next one but right now I'm happy that I'll get to ride more often for myself!

US Open

I haven't been to the USO for a long time so I was really excited to go back. Too bad that we only had one good day and the rest of the time it was just raining and stormy! I had a good time anyways and I'm stoked for Kazu!

The Bakery

Innsbruck has got another great hang out spot! "Die Bäckerei" was an old empty building which has been remodeled to a art space and a little cafe. Numerous projects like art exhibitions, all kinds of workshops, parties have already been held and there is a bunch of great stuff coming up. A really good place for creative people to exchange ideas too. Right now it's all about skateboarding. The IBK sk8 community built some gnarly obstacles out of left overs from a stage of the theater and it will be there until the end of this month. If you're around make sure to check it out! www.diebaeckerei.at

Austrian Old School Masters

The day right before I took off for the US, the Austrian Pipe Masters went down up at Seegrube. It's a really fun event which is more like a gathering of the local Austrian snowboard scene than a competition. Riders like Wolle Nyvelt, Christoph Weber-Thoresen, Steve Gruber, Friedel Kolar, Paul Burger, Tom Nudl Recheis and many more showed up since there is as well a legends ranking. It was good hanging out with all these guys again since we don't get to see each very often anymore. I did the qualifiers and ended up second. I couldn't do the finals next day but I was stoked! Friends, beautiful weather, fun shredding, a few beers, good vibe and great people = happy sAni! It was for sure the most fun day this season.

Pure Happiness!

I didn't get to ride much this season. It was either due to the lack of snow we had here in Europe all season long or because I was hanging at a lot of competitions watching my soldiers. Well, I had a weekend off so I went up to my local resort Seegrube. The weather was beautiful and the pipe was shaped almost perfect. It's a big oldschool pipe but it was so much fun riding it! Since the walls are so much smaller than the pipes have these days it seriously felt like I was going huge! haha.. A lot of my old shred buddies I used to ride national pipe contests decades ago were up there as well so it felt a bit like riding back in '95. Such good times!

Pretty stoked on this shot my buddy Rathmi took with his GF1!
